Types of Therapy I Offer

I take an individualized approach to therapy. I offer several evidence-based therapies and work with the client to determine a course of treatment that best fits their needs. I commonly practice the following modalities:

Emdr

  • Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is a powerful trauma treatment that has the client focus on a traumatic memory while simultaneously receiving bilateral stimulation (eye movements, holding buzzers, tapping). EMDR can be useful in processing both recent traumatic events as well as events from childhood.

Internal Family Systems Informed Parts Work

  • We all have different parts of ourselves that present in different situations. When someone experiences chronic trauma, parts of themselves can become very fragmented. In Internal Family Systems Therapy, the Therapist and Client explore the different parts of the client that have had to take on different roles to survive developmental trauma.

Exposure & Response Prevention Therapy

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold-standard for treating OCD and related disorders. ERP encourages clients to expose themselves to their fear and obsessive thoughts without engaging in compulsions to try to alleviate the distress.

Psychodynamic therapy

  • Sometimes in therapy we just need someone to help us examine our current feelings and behaviors. Psychodynamic therapy is a form of talk therapy that focuses on the psychological roots of emotional suffering, with a focus on self-examination.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

  • DBT is a skills-based therapy that focuses on fostering skills in four main areas: Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance, and Mindfulness. DBT can help with those struggling with emotional dysregulation, depression, anxiety, addiction, and borderline personalty disorder, to name a few.
